God reigns over His Kingdom and it is simply amazing that it is actually His good pleasure to give it to anyone seeking Him who wants to be a part of it.
Luke 12:31-32 (NKJV) says, But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
This verse encourages Christians not to be afraid or anxious, no fear, no anxiety because it is God’s will and delight to give them the Kingdom. He WANTS to give it to you, it’s a gift, you can’t and don’t have to earn it! We should want to please Him and our part is to receive what He is giving…the Kingdom.
This “Kingdom” is not a necessarily a geographical territory, it refers, primarily, to God’s kingly rule, reign, and sovereign authority. The biblical kingdom is characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, and its citizens are those who willingly submit to God’s will.
1 Timothy 6:16 and Revelation 19:16 say, Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Seeking the Kingdom of God requires making Jesus the Lord and King of your life, submitting to His authority, following His commandments and pursuing His purpose of spreading the Good News and making disciples among the nations.
To “advance God’s Kingdom” means to live according to God’s will and principles, making His influence and love known in the world through actions and words. This involves activities such as evangelism, discipleship, serving others and praying for His will to be done on Earth. It is about reflecting God’s character and love through a transformed life to positively influence society and bring people to a relationship with Him.
Doing the things previously mentioned, by the power of the Holy Spirit, brings God good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) says, for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. So stop stressing and worrying, stop being afraid, it’s not for you to do, it’s for Him to do through you! This verse confirms it… for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. God works through you by His Indwelling Spirit with the intent to fulfill a planned purpose and, when we die to ourselves, yield to His Spirit, and allow Him to accomplish this, He is satisfied and it brings Him good pleasure.
In Mark 1:15 Jesus’ message, “The kingdom of God is at hand,” signifies that The Kingdom, God’s reign, is already present now through the work of Jesus, currently in the hearts of Christians, through a relationship with God and living according to His principles, but awaits future completion when He returns, when it will be fully established on Earth.
Starting with Salvation, the gift to be a part of God’s Kingdom is unlike any other. This Gift of being a part of His Kingdom, that God is pleased to give you, isn’t like being a part of any other kingdom! If you are under the British monarchy or any other monarchy in the world, you are a subject and a citizen! However, you’re not involved in it! Besides the military, you don’t get to serve directly in it! And the biggest thing of all is you don’t get to be in a personal relationship with ruler, the King (or Queen) …you’re a subject. You may see them from a distance, but that’s it! You don’t get to go knock on the front door of Buckingham Palace and King Charles invites you in. However, In God’s Kingdom, you get to know Him, His way of being and He invites you to Himself.
Immediately after Jesus died on the cross, Matthew 27:51 tells us 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split. In the temple, the veil separated the Holy of Holies, where God’s presence was. Only the high priest entered once a year after a very detailed, intricate ceremony. The torn veil represents a new covenant where Christians are no longer separated from God by a high priest and elaborate rituals, but can enter God’s presence directly through Jesus’ sacrifice. We now have access 24/7/365!
Hebrews 4:16 says, Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
This following verse is written to the churches, but is Jesus pursuing us within the church with an invitation…Revelation 3:20-21 (NKJV) says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Jesus is seeking to enter and as long as we respond humbly recognizing our spiritual bankruptcy and respond, by faith (MacArthur Study Bible pg. 1947), He will enter the church and we get to dine with Him. A shared meal symbolizes acceptance, deep friendship and covenant relationship (NLT Study Bible, pg. 2346). That second part is a figurative expression, but yet an amazing promise, if we answer the call, the reward for our faith is we are granted to sit with Him, but we are not divine, He alone is King and Lord, but we will enjoy the privilege of His presence and the elevated personal experience of sharing in His victorious reign (NLT Study Bible, pg. 2346). Let me know of ANY King that will let you do that!
You don’t just know Him, but it is His Good Pleasure to actually adopt you into His family! Ephesians 1:5-6 (NKJV) says, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He [a]made us accepted in the Beloved.
You also get to be directly involved. It involves prioritizing His values, trusting in His provision, living in a way that reflects His righteousness. and being in close, personal relationship with not just any king, but He is the Most High, The Creator of the Universe, the Alpha and Omega.
Not only that, it only gets better, the benefits of the Kingdom of God include immediate spiritual blessings like forgiveness, peace, purpose and the topper…you receive eternal life and you get to spend it with Him! God is so good that He receives pleasure by giving this to you. This is the most lopsided good deal ever! You couldn’t Dream this, but you do get to receive this! He’s giving…receive God’s Kingdom, you benefit and it gives Him pleasure. It’s worth it, you’re worth it and God is certainly worth it.
Be blessed my friends!
