Luke 22:41-42 AMP says, And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup [of divine wrath] from Me; yet not My will, but [always] Yours be done.”
1 John 3:16 AMP says, By this we know [and have come to understand the depth and essence of His precious] love: that He [willingly] laid down His life for us [because He loved us]. And we ought to lay down our lives for the believers.
Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh and died for us, arm yourselves like warriors with the same purpose, with the same attitude He had, being willing to suffer for doing what is right and pleasing to God, because whoever has suffered in the flesh being like-minded with Christ is finished with intentional sin having stopped pleasing the world, you won’t spend the rest of your natural life living for human appetites, chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to live for the will and purpose of God. For the time that has already past is more than enough for doing what the unsaved, godless people enjoy and like to do—living unrestrained as you have done in a course of shameless sensuality, immorality. lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and terrible worship of idols. In connection with all this, your unbelieving former friends are resentful and surprised that you do not think like them, value their values and run hand in hand with them into the same excesses of dissipation, destruction and immoral freedom, and they criticize, slander and ridicule you and make fun of your values. But remember, they will have to face God and give an account to Him who is ready to judge and pass sentence on the living and the dead. For this is why the good news of salvation was preached in their lifetimes even to those who are dead, that though they were judged in the flesh as men are, they may live forever in the spirit according to the will and purpose of God.
The end of the world, the culmination of all things is near. Therefore, be sound-minded, disciplined and self-controlled for the purpose of prayer staying balanced and focused on the things of God so that your communication will be clear, reasonable, specific and pleasing to Him. Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, continuing to show deep love for each other, because love covers a multitude of sins it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others.
Be hospitable to one another without complaint. Just as each one of you has received a special gift a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God, use it well in serving one another as is appropriate for good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor. Whoever speaks to the congregation, is to do so as one who speaks the oracles, utterances, the very words of God, as though God Himself were speaking through you. Whoever serves is to do so with all the strength and energy that God abundantly supplies, so that in all things, everything you do, God may be glorified honored and magnified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
