Spiritual Leader Of The Family

God calls the Christian husband to be the spiritual leader of his family. You are to set the tone of the home so that God’s divine order of submission and authority will take effect. You are to lovingly serve and lead your wife so that she is encouraged to naturally submit to you, respect you, and willingly follow your lead.

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) says, You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. This is the greatest commandment in the Bible, and it should be taught and modeled by the Christian husband/father as the spiritual leader of his family.

You are to initiate prayer with your wife on a daily basis. Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) tells us, And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Ephesians 5:25-27 (NIV) says, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Jesus loved, served, taught, and led the church. He loved us so much that He was willing to sacrifice Himself to the point of death so that we (the church) would be saved. Jesus not only wanted us to receive eternal life, but He wanted us to live the life of victory God always planned for us. Simply put, He died so we could have everything God wants us to have and be everything He intends us to be. You are called to love, serve, lead and sacrifice for your wife in a manner that achieves the same results. As the spiritual leader, you are responsible to lead your wife through her spiritual development.

You are to diligently study your Bible. God commands you to wash your wife with the Word. This requires you to know and understand God’s Word, share it, and most importantly, DO WHAT IT SAYS! James 1:22, 25 (NIV) says, Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. You should NEVER present yourself as the ultimate authority to determine what is right and true. Proverbs 3:5-7 (NKJV) tells us, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes. Your thoughts, opinions, and decisions should be based on the Bible and what God reveals to you in prayer.

CONCLUSION

Your ultimate goal as the spiritual leader of your family is to lead your wife, and consequently, your children, to fully live the life of victory attained by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Go Live The Victory!
